Berries

Is there one fruit to rule them all? Probably not, but if there was it would definitely be berries. A cup of berries has approximately 13,000 antioxidants. It’s got about 5 grams of fiber which is bonkers for so little calories, and it’s chock full of vitamins. I love to get these frozen berries from Costco, I have at least two cups a day. You could have it by itself or with a smoothie. Every time I make a protein shake it’s going to come with berries. Tastes f***ing amazing and keeps me feeling full. Whey protein, nonfat Greek yogurt, or a corn/pea protein blend is amazing to help you hit your macros. Have a tasty smoothie and feel satiated afterwards.

Shopping at Wegmans while dieting

Grocery shopping can be stressful – especially if you are considering starting a diet. Here are some items I would consider grabbing while at @wegmans:

1️⃣ Kimchi
2️⃣ Egg whites
3️⃣ Nonfat @fairlife milk
4️⃣ @oikos triple zero greek yogurt
5️⃣ @fairlife Core Power Elite
6️⃣ @olemex_labanderita carb counter wraps
7️⃣ Basil pesto chicken thighs
8️⃣ Wild caught grouper

Trader Joe’s protein pancakes

Trader Joe’s buttermilk protein pancake mix.

The macros are decent at 140 calories, 10g protein, 3g fiber, but it doesn’t pass the test.

My trick?

Add egg whites to the mix. It’ll bump up your protein-to-calorie ratio and it tastes great. You could add a whey protein powder to this mix, but I find that it really dries out the pancakes. Try the egg white trick and see what you think!

Agave is a 🐂💩 food

Agave is a great example of a garbage 🗑️ product that in no way is healthy but has been marketed well.

1️⃣ It’s highly processed.

2️⃣ Still contains sugar. Many people aiming to cut down on sugar are seeking alternatives for their diets. Agave isn’t it — it has 16g of sugar per serving.

3️⃣ It has no nutritional value. The micronutrients on this thing are abysmal. For 60 calories you are getting nothing but that — empty calories.

I prefer Stevia, a plant-based sweetener. Every day people are likely confused about artificial sweeteners because they are busy with careers and dependent on news/ social media to learn about health and wellness. You would have to have an absurd amount of aspartame for the dosage to be cancerous. The study involving erythritol literally used patients with prior heart disease as subjects. Not exactly reflective of general population.

For those concerned about artificial sweeteners, I recommend raw honey as a natural option. Both raw honey and agave have 60 calories and 16g sugar per tablespoon, but agave is highly processed whereas honey is filtered for debris, but that is the only processing that it undergoes.
