Chia seeds

Chia seeds.

These seeds are my go-to addition for a perfect morning boost. Whether blended into a smoothie, sprinkled over oatmeal, or mixed with Greek yogurt, they bring a boost of nutrition to your breakfast routine.

Each serving provides 150 calories, 10g of fiber, and 5g of protein. Chia seeds offer a complete protein source, making them an excellent addition to your daily nutrition.

But the main reason I would incorporate these into my diet is to boost my fiber intake. If you’re struggling to hit your fiber goals, consider this powerful seed.

How to: Shoulder Press

3️⃣ steps to perfect your shoulder press technique:

1️⃣ Set-up bench to ensure back support in a seated position with feet flat on the floor. Keep your core engaged while seated and maintain a neutral spine.

2️⃣ With elbows away from body, press dumbbells over head without locking elbows. Keep wrists in a neutral position and ensure movement is controlled. Dumbbells should align over shoulders.

3️⃣ Lower dumbbells back to starting position allowing elbows to bend bringing dumbbells back to shoulders

Arm Day at Madison Ave Strength Lab

It’s arm day at Madison Ave Strength Lab. After weight training for over 20 years and helping hundreds of people change their lives, the biggest takeaway is: if you’re serious about building muscle on your arms, you need to be training them at least twice a week.

✅ Use science as a guide while choosing your exercises. But after that, it’s a matter of trial and error. Some exercises will simply work better for you as an individual. People have varying arm lengths, differing shoulder mobility – you want to use research to determine which exercises are most efficient.

❌ Ditch the ones that are painful or don’t feel like you’re recruiting muscle. Simply put, quit doing exercises that don’t work for you and stick with the exercises that are effective in your routine.

Watch the full video to learn which exercises I personally choose and why I find them effective.

Salsa

You need to enjoy your diet to follow it 💃

Salsa might be the missing ingredient to a successful diet. Okay maybe I’m being dramatic. But actually, enjoying your food is pivotal. Salsa is an easy add to a number of protein sources and it’s only 5 calories for 2 tablespoons.

Link in bio for more healthy snack options – my Grocery Store Guide is now available on my shop page.

Do I need to track my calories?

Do you need to track your calories?

Let’s put it this way – think of your calorie tracking as finances. Some people just have a natural sense for budgeting and some of us don’t. Because of this, you really have to sit down and write out a plan and follow it.

The same is true with your nutrition.

My #1 question to you is: Are you comfortable in your own skin? Do you like how you feel? Do you like how you look? Do you like how you’re performing?

If the answer is no, then you need to come up with a plan and start tracking.

That doesn’t mean you need to use a food scale for the rest of your life but it definitely means using one for the time-being and using an app to track your caloric intake. Doing this even for a couple of weeks will completely change your mindset and your understanding of nutrition.

So – do you need to track? That really depends on where you’re at and where you want to go.

You’re always going to look at your bank statements, but you don’t necessarily need to track that stringently if you’re in a good place.

Walk-through: Madison Ave Strength Lab

@MadisonAveStrengthLab in Larchmont, NY is where I train my clients out of. You may have seen this facility in the background of some of my content or seen it in action in the exercise videos on my app.

It’s a stunning facility equipped with everything essential to ensure top-notch training for my clients. Some of my favorite features include 25 yards of usable turf, Rogue sleds (my absolute favorite piece of equipment), a Kabuki Strength safety squat bar, and a selection of 9 different specialty barbells.

Not only do we boast the fanciest dumbbells in Westchester 😉… but our bathroom facilities are the nicest I’ve seen in any gym.

While amenities might not always be the primary consideration when choosing a gym, the decision to hire a trainer is a different story. MASL provides the ideal environment for cultivating high-quality training sessions, thanks to its kickass trainers and state-of-the-art equipment.
