My favorite frozen fries

My favorite frozen fries in the game right now are @strongroots Proper Fries.

I used to buy Alexia’s Smart Classics fries all the time but I haven’t seen them in stores in years.

These Proper Fries also have great macros with ~100 calories and 3g of fiber. Most of the time, frozen fries have jacked up calories due to dextrose or oil. Usually, you’re better off just taking potatoes and making your own.

These fries are 97% potato and 3% sunflower oil. I love making them in the air fryer or oven. I absolutely love this product.

Why does restaurant food taste better?

Why does restaurant food taste better? Because of butter, sugar and oil. In the case of steak, it’s because of butter. Steak is never tender by itself- it’s not tender unless it’s prepared in a certain manner.

A normal 6oz sirloin steak would have approximately 250 calories. in the case of a steak prepared at a restaurant, it might have 3 to 4 times as many calories. You need to be aware that the food prepared in a restaurant has more calories than you realize. Plan accordingly.

What blood work should I get done?

I get asked all the time what blood work I recommend.

My first piece of advice is to find a medical professional you trust and respect. You need someone in your corner ordering the labs you want and talking you through the results.

After you find a trusted professional, I would suggest a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, CBC with differential, and a Lipid Panel. But that is not all-inclusive and the amount of tests you can do is endless.

Remember: I am on TRT – so some of the tests that I get done are more extensive. For many of my clients, this is my blanket recommendation. But again, I am not a medical professional. Go get a doctor that you trust.

Find a PCP, book your appointment, and get your lab work done if you have not done so already this year.

Protein-packed pizza

I’m going to show you how to make a protein-packed pizza. Here’s how I did it:

🍕Ingredients:
〰️ 1 @josephspitabread lavash bread
〰️ 62g @raoshomemade marinara sauce
〰️ 84g shredded fat-free cheddar cheese
〰️ 28g turkey pepperoni

⏲️Instructions:
〰️ Take lavash bread and spread marinara sauce evenly on top
〰️ Sprinkle cheese and pepperonis over the top
〰️ Bake at 420* for 5-7 minutes depending on your preferred level of crispness

💪🏻Macros:
370 calories | 48g protein | 4g fiber

Watermelon is highly bingeable 🍉 You say, “Jake, it’s full of sugar!” Well.. it’s high in fructose. Americans are not overweight because of fruits and vegetables, you are out of your mind.

Often when I’m looking to snack I go to my refrigerator, I’ll have something like an apple, maybe a couple pieces of watermelon, or some pickles. I usually walk away from the scenario with my stomach full, having less than 100 calories, and I got fiber to boot. There are ways to deal with your sweet or salty tooth when it’s bedtime that won’t be a complete travesty to your diet.
