Human Improvement protein shake with Eric Hinman

Having a protein shake with my friend @erichinman. Eric is an incredible endurance athlete, we both went for a ruck this morning in Denver at @hpltraining. Afterwards we had our first meal of the day, a protein smoothie with @human.improvement. They were kind enough to give me a discount code for my followers- you can use “JZ15” to get 15% off.

The reason I’m pushing this is because typically when I add psyllium husk to a protein shake it leaves a lot of residue at the bottom. Psyllium husk is a seed and it can just be sort of nasty when I do a DIY version of this shake at home.

Psyllium husk is a supplement I’ve been talking about for a long time because it helps with cholesterol and blood pressure. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Stay vigilant.

Client spotlight: John Sanchez, @sanchez.johnm is a coaching client who has been working with me on @getverb for two months. He lost 15lbs.  I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but he absolutely crushed this process. Here is what he had to say:

Pendulum Squat: Quad Annihilation

If you ever get a chance to use a pendulum squat, do it. I literally drive 20 minutes out of my way to use this machine once a week because I think it’s so effective for building your quads.

Why? Because typically your quads are weakest when the muscle is shortened and strongest when the muscle is lengthened. This machine has a counterbalance that makes the pendulum squat mechanically the most challenging at the lengthened portion of the squat. Therefore this is the only squat variation without using bands that you can overload the lengthened portion of the squat.
